Following the traditional format of Sections, organised around a common theme or major research question, the conference brings together young scholars from across the world for their first experience of an academic conference. Participants are encouraged to take on the full spectrum of roles, from Section and Panel Chairs, to Discussants or Paper givers. Alternatively, they can simply attend and observe. The key to any successful conference is teaming challenging academic content with a stimulating plenary timetable that facilitates effective networking. That's why the ECPR's Graduate Student Conference includes practical lectures, alongside lectures from high-profile academics, and social events that encourage participants to make vital contacts. Held on each occasion in a different university and in a different city, the Conference lets participants experience academic and social life in a brand-new environment.
